DStv Insurance

  • DStv Funeral Cover

A DStv Family Funeral Policy will cover you and 5 additional family members (Spouse & Children) up to R20 000 each in the unfortunate event of your and their passing. You will receive the cash pay-out in the unfortunate event of your loved ones’ passing to help you with the family funeral arrangements. Your beneficiary will receive a cash pay-out in the unfortunate event of your passing.

  • DStv Subscription Waiver

A DStv Subscription Waiver Insurance policy allows you to give your loved ones a 12 month prepaid DStv subscription in the unfortunate event of your passing at no cost to your loved ones. You can choose a DStv Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, Family or Access Subscription Waiver policy.

  • DStv Debt Waiver

DStv Debt Waiver Insurance covers your outstanding DStv hardware and installation payment plan debt in the unfortunate event of your passing, becoming temporarily or permanently disabled after the activation of the policy, or becoming unable to earn an income after the activation of the policy.

  • DStv Decoder Insurance

DStv Decoder Insurance covers your decoder for wear and tear, technical, mechanical or electrical malfunctions. A decoder from our service stock of the same or similar type will be provided to you in the event of a claim.

It also covers total loss of your decoder due to fire, lightning, flood, explosions, theft and attempted theft. A new decoder of the same or similar type will be provided to you in the event of a claim.

  • SMS the word INSURE to 32445 and we will call you back.
  • Visit dstv.co.za and click on MyDStv. Click on Sign In. Sign in with your account details. Click the Insurance tab.
  • Open the MyDStv App on your mobile device. Sign in with your account details. Select Insurance on the dashboard.
  • WhatsApp DStv on 060 060 3788. Type “Main menu”. Type “Insure”.
  • Email your request to [email protected]
  • Call us on (011) 369 4000.
  • Visit any of our Service Centres.

The monthly premium is linked to your outstanding DStv hardware and installation payment plan balance. It is calculated at 0,45% (R4,50 per R1 000) on your outstanding balance.

  • DStv Decoder Insurance

If you’re claiming for a faulty decoder e.g. wear and tear, mechanical or electrical malfunction:

Bring your damaged or faulty decoder to any MultiChoice Walk in Centre. You do not have to email or call us.

If you’re claiming for total loss of your decoder as a result of theft, attempted theft, lightning, fire, flood or explosion you’ll need to complete a claim form:

Visit dstv.co.za and click on MyDStv. Click on Sign In. Sign in with your account details. Click the Insurance tab. Click on the Decoder and Claim; OR

Contact us on 011 369 4000, OR

E-mail the claim through to us with subject line DStv Insurance Claim; OR

Come into one of our MultiChoice Service Centres (Randburg, Cape Town, Durban Central and Umhlanga).

If the decoder is stolen, you must lay a charge of theft with the South African Police Service within 30 days of the incident and give the case number to us when you complete your claim form.

If the DStv Device is damaged or destroyed due to fire, you must report the incident to the South African Police Service or Fire Brigade within 30 days of the incident and give the case number to us when you complete your claim form.

Your DStv insurance premium will be added to your MultiChoice / DStv account. You will need to use your customer number as a reference when making payment.

Our agencies aren’t allowed to sell, activate or cancel DStv Insurance or collect DStv Insurance payments as they’re not authorised Financial Services Providers.

It’s not like our DStv packages, so while you certainly can pay for the whole year, we can’t offer you the 12th month free (this discount doesn’t apply to our insurance products).
