Showmax Add To DStv Bill

The Showmax Add To DStv Bill feature is for all DStv customers. This enhancement will also apply to DStv customers registering for Showmax for the first time.

Remember, DStv Premium customers get Showmax at a 100% discount, while Compact Plus and Compact customers get it at a 50% discount. Customers on DStv Family, Access and EasyView can also add Showmax to their DStv Bill for the Standard Showmax price of R99pm.

If you have an active DStv package, you will be able to add Showmax mid-month without making a payment, the pro-rata amount due will be added to your DStv bill. You will only make your first payment on your next DStv payment date.

From August 2020, new Showmax customers that are on DStv Premium can follow the steps below to add Showmax to their DStv account by:

  • Visiting the DStv self-service website
  • Sign-in with your Connect ID
  • Select “My Products”
  • Choose the DStv Premium package
  • Click “Add Showmax” on the Showmax banner
  • If you already have a Showmax account select ‘Sign In’
  • If you don’t have a Showmax account select ‘Create Account’
  • You will be directed to the Showmax website where you can either enter your existing login details, or create new login details, then select ‘Sign In’.
  • Accept the quotation

Once Showmax is linked to your DStv Account you will be able to start watching.

Remember DStv Premium customers can add Showmax at no extra cost, the quotation will display the discount as well.

Showmax customers on other DStv packages can also add Showmax to their DStv account by:

  • Visiting the DStv self-service website
  • Sign-in with your Connect ID
  • Select “My Products”
  • Select your DStv package
  • Click “Link Showmax” on the Showmax banner
  • If you already have a Showmax account select ‘Sign In’
  • If you don’t have a Showmax account select ‘Create Account’
  • You will be directed to the Showmax website where you can either enter your existing login details, or create new login details, then select ‘Sign In’
  • Accept the quotation

Once Showmax is linked to your DStv Account you will be able to start watching.

Existing Showmax customers who want to switch to DStv as a payment option or add Showmax to their DStv account can do so by:

  • Signing into the Showmax website
  • Selecting “My Account”
  • Managing subscription
  • Adding to DStv

The customer will be redirected to the DStv Self Service website to complete the Showmax activation.

Adding Showmax to your DStv bill will allow you to enjoy the discount benefits that you get by being a DStv subscriber. DStv Premium customers get Showmax at a 100% discount, while Compact Plus and Compact customers get it at a 50% discount. Customers on DStv Family, Access and EasyView can also add Showmax to their DStv Bill for the Standard Showmax price of R99pm.

You will only be able to add Showmax to your DStv account via the DStv Self Service website. This new process makes it easy for the discount benefit to be applied to your Showmax account.

All DStv subscribers with the exception of commercial accounts that have an active package can qualify to add Showmax to their account/bill.

One Showmax subscription can be linked to one DStv account package/subscription. If you have more than one DStv package or subscription you will be able to link a Showmax subscription to each DStv package/subscription, and Showmax will be discounted according to the DStv package/subscription it is linked to.

E.g. If you have a Premium and a Compact subscription, you can link one Showmax subscription to the Premium subscription, and another Showmax subscription to the Compact subscription.

No. In the case of a customer with multiple products, the customer would obtain or qualify for a discount for each package. E.g. If a customer has three packages/subscriptions they will get the applicable discount for all three subscriptions.

The new discounted rate is only applicable when the downgrade has been done, which is at the end of the billing cycle, i.e., Showmax will only start charging at the discounted rate applicable to the DStv package that you would have downgraded at the end of the billing cycle.

To downgrade DStv packages customers must visit DStv Self Service or the MyDStv app.

The new applicable discount for Showmax will take effect immediately since there is a pro-rata reversal for Showmax if you upgrade in the middle of your billing/viewing cycle. You will receive a pro-rata reversal depending on when upgrade, and to which package you’ve upgraded to.

To upgrade DStv packages customers must visit DStv Self Service website or the MyDStv app.

When the principal DStv package is disconnected, the Showmax subscription will be suspended. When the DStv package gets reconnected the Showmax subscription will resume.

If you downgrade your DStv package during reconnection, Showmax will reconnect on the new DStv package and the associated billing discount will apply as per the new DStv package linked to.

Customers can visit the DStv Self Service website to reconnect Showmax.

You will receive a message on self service to notify you of all subscription and payment option changes that are made to your Showmax account.

You can cancel Showmax as an Add on Product on the DStv Self-Service website by:

  • Selecting “My Products”
  • Selecting “Cancel Subscription”
  • Confirming “Cancellation” by clicking next

You will receive confirmation that the cancellation has been completed successfully.  If you select cancel on the Showmax website, you will be redirected to the DStv Self Service website. You can request cancellation at any time. When the subscription is cancelled, you will continue to have access until the end of the billing cycle.

Customers who add Showmax to bill will only be able to manage their account i.e. update and edit their payment details on the DStv Self-Service website.

The Showmax pro-rata is a once-off fee that is charged for moving your Showmax payment date to align with your DStv payment date.

E.g., If you pay your Showmax subscription on the 15th of every and your DStv account on the 1st of every month, your subscription payment for Showmax would need to be moved forward to the 1st (to match your DStv payment date) - those additional days will be charged once-off.

Please note: the pro-rata will be dependent on when your Showmax account is added to your DStv bill in relation to your DStv payment date and your Showmax payment date.
