7 High-stakes action movies to watch this week

This week’s movie line-up is all about blockbuster action. Check out our top picks.

It’s the month of May and what better way to ring it in than with movies bursting with action, intrigue and a side of laughs?

This week’s Sunday Night Blockbuster on M-Net (DStv channel 101) sees a seasoned con artist fall in love with his next target. Can he find it in his heart to betray her – or will he lose his longtime partner and friend while saving her? Find out in The Good Liar.

More action awaits on M-Net Movies 2, 3 and 4 (DStv channels 106, 107 and 108) with the latest instalment of Men in Black, the first Mission Impossible and Rocky movies, and Batman Begins. Combining action and comedy, M-Net Movies 2 (DStv channel 106) airs Men in Black: International, which pairs up Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tessa Thompson (Creed) as they face the Earth’s greatest danger yet: a mole inside their agency. With the new Mission Impossible film set to be released later this year, it’s time to rewatch the entire franchise from the start, beginning with the film – and man, Tom Cruise – that started it all. Catch Mission Impossible on M-Net Movies 3 (DStv channel 107), followed by the original Rocky, starring Sylvester Stallone. Over on M-Net Movies 4 (DStv channel 108), look out for the first of Christopher Nolan’s dark trilogy: Batman Begins.

Midweek, tune in to TNT (DStv channel 137) for a classic tale with a modern twist. Twist takes the 1838 novel by Charles Dickens and brings it into the 21st century with a graffiti-artist protagonist. There’s also plenty of laughs to be had with TNT’s Eddy Murphy movie month taking over in May. The first of the films to be aired, Bowfinger, sees a desperate movie producer decide to shoot a film with a star who doesn’t know he’s in it!

Whether you’re in the mood for a classic or a reboot, catch even more of the latest movies – only on DStv.
