When did your role as presenter for HONEY TV’s Wawu That’s My Dress come about?

It was confirmed at the beginning of April. I was overjoyed when I heard the news because I love weddings and I love wedding dresses, so it was the perfect match (excuse the pun).

Tell us more about your role as a presenter?

My role on the show is basically as the middleman (or - woman) between the brides and the boutique. I make sure I help them find the dress of their dreams. I really enjoy that part as I love seeing their faces when they find the perfect dress.

How do you juggle your role as a presenter, a radio personality and a mother and wife?

I've been doing this for a better part of my life, so balancing everything has become a habit second to nature.

What do you love and enjoy about the job?

The fact that I get to talk to people younger than me about a very important stage in their lives before they make a very important decision... I love the cast's excitement as they light up with the joy that comes from trying on their special gowns. I also interact with people who actually love me for what I do rather than for my media persona. This gives me a chance to create a more intimate connection with each one of them.

Where do you guys film?

We film the show at the beautiful SPOTLIGHT Bridal Shop at the Waterfront Mall Karen in Nairobi, Kenya.

How does Wawu, That’s My Dress select candidates for the show?

We make use of social media platforms and rely on contacts from lifestyle and wedding experts.

What are the highlights of your career?

Being part of The Voice Coke Studio and hosting the biggest breakfast show in the country on Capital FM along with the legendary Fareed Khimani.

What challenges do you face as a media personality?

The challenges are having to forgo shopping and walking in public everyday.

What’s next for Amina Abdi Rabar, the media personality?

Taking over the continent. I'm so happy I get to join HONEY TV. It has elevated my brand and I'm so grateful and excited for what the future holds.
