Unstoppable talent on KIX

In February and March, these 2 superstars stand above all the rest on KIX…

Action-man Daniel Wu

California-born Daniel developed an interest in martial arts when he saw the legendary Jet Li in the movie The Shaolin Temple (1982) and Donnie Yen in the movie Iron Monkey (1993), though Jackie Chan was his ultimate hero. His admiration compelled him to start studying wushu at the young age of 11.

Dan studied at the University of Oregon, where he founded the University of Oregon Wushu Club in 1994, and served as the team's first coach. While studying and coaching, the future actor also took film classes and visited local theatres. While in Hong Kong in 1997, Daniel took a modelling job, which turned out to be his ticket to fame: He caught the eye of film director Yonfan, who approached him to star in his movie Bishonen (1989) in which Daniel played the lead role of Sam Fai. He starred in City of Glass directly after that, earning a nomination for best actor at the 18th Hong Kong Film Awards. Daniel’s other movies include Purple Storm (1999), Born Wild (2001), Love Undercover (2002), New Police Story (2004), Protégé (2007) and TV series Into The Badlands (2015-2019).

You can spot Daniel Wu on KIX (DStv 114) every Sunday in February at 19:00 in the following movies:

Warrior-woman Shu Qi

Sassy Shu Qi will keep you on the edge of your seat with her sly comebacks and kicking skills throughout March in her action movies. The actress was born in Taiwan but moved to Hong Kong when she was 17 to look for a career in movies. Shu started off starring in erotic movies like Viva Erotica (1996), but soon moved on to mainstream movies such as the Asian fantasy movie The Storm Riders (1998), and marital art legend Jackie Chan’s action movie Gorgeous (1999). She also starred in action movie The Transporter (2009) alongside Jason Statham.

You can catch Shu’s kick-ass moves every Sunday evening in March on KIX (DStv 114) at 19:00 in the following movies:
