Dead certain: Dr Jenny Cooper is back for another season of Coroner

Production has started on Season 2 of the popular drama set in Toronto.

Coroner is one of those series that get under your skin and stay with you long after watching the final episode. That’s why fans will be delighted that Dr Jenny Cooper will be back for a second season on Universal TV (channel 117 on DStv). Coroner S2 is currently in production, and you can expect eight more hour-long episodes dropping in the new year.

What’s happening in the new season?

In Season 2, we return to Toronto where Dr Cooper still investigates suspicious, unnatural or sudden deaths.

In the aftermath of a devastating apartment fire, Jenny struggles to control a dangerous new outlet for her anxiety. Meanwhile, a witness to the fire draws Detective Donovan McAvoy into a hidden side of the city.

The season dives deeper into what it means to live in the face of death. Dr Cooper must trust her instincts, as her father’s dementia worsens, her son turns 18, and her now-live-in boyfriend Liam is confronted by his own push and pull with death.

The cast and crew are excited!

“We are thrilled to be returning to Coroner for a second season that will not only continue to explore fascinating cases but also brings fans closer to Jenny and her personal journey,” said showrunner Morwyn Brebner and lead director and executive producer Adrienne Mitchell. “There’s a real explosiveness to this season that we are very excited to bring to life.”

“Audiences are captivated by the complex character of Jenny Cooper and her timely investigations, thanks to the tremendous talent of the cast and creative team, and we look forward to sharing her next chapter with fans across the country,” said Sally Catto, General Manager, Programming, CBC.

Look out for the Coroner S2, coming soon to Universal TV (117) in 2020.
