Mr Queen

This giggle-worthy historical romantic comedy contrasts lush, lavish and period accurate costumes with irreverent comedy for a take on palace drama like you’ve never seen it before. Free spirited Jang Bong-hwan, who works as a chef in the President’s Blue House (The White House of Korea) in the 2020s, finds himself suddenly inhabiting the body of newlywed Queen Cheorin (Shin Hye-sun) of the Joseon dynasty (around 1851). Gentle puppet King Cheoljong (Kim Jung-hyun) will suddenly find himself saddled with a changed new bride with a taste for the palace wine, but also a politically minded one one who might be rather more sympathetic to his dreams of reform than he’s used to. It’s even more off the wall than The Crowned Clown!

Monday to Friday at 21:15 on tvN (DStv channel 134) from 5 July

Memorist

Detective Dong Baek (Yoo Seung-ho) can read people’s memories – all he needs is a touch, skin-to-skin. His earliest memory is one of murder. He and genius profiler Han Sun-mi (Lee Se-young, Yoo So-woon in The Crowned Clown), the youngest Superintendent of Special Investigation Headquarters, join hands and forces to solve a gruesome serial killer case. But they’ll slowly begin to discover that they have more in common than a personal passion for solving crime...including killings within their own families. Based on the 2016–2018 Daum webtoon of the same name by Jae Hoo.

Saturdays and Sundays at 21:15 on tvN (DStv channel 134) from 10 July

Tomorrow With You

In this romantic drama with a touch of fantasy, Yoo So-joon (Lee Je-hoon, Jo Sang-goo in Move To Heaven), the CEO of an estate agency, has the ability to travel through time via a subway. Soon after foreseeing his own death, he makes a choice to marry amateur photographer Song Ma-rin (Shin Min-a) in an effort to avoid that fate. But as time goes by, he starts to appreciate her for her own sake. There are so many beautiful romantic moments in this series – How I Met Your Mother’s Yellow Umbrella has nothing on this couple’s umbrella wedding.

The Sixth Sense

Each week they, along with 1 special guest (The Sixth Man), will visit 3 of the trendiest popular places and people in South Korea. But in each episode there will be 1 imposter, created from scratch by the sneaky production team, and they’ll have to use their “Sixth Sense” to work out who’s faking it. But if someone guesses wrong, they’ll have to shave off their eyebrows! S2 will start on tvN in July.
