#DStvNow4Newbies: Live TV

DStv Now is all about discovering new content and getting a chance to watch your favourite DStv shows and the hottest sporting events on the go.

Sometimes life gets in the way and you have to improvise. Lucky for you, DStv Now allows you to catch your favourite shows* whether you're stuck at the office or in a long shopping queue.

Watch now

On the menu bar on both the web offering and the DStv Now app (available on both iOS and Android devices) is "Live TV", your quick and easy route to live streaming your favourite channels.

From M-Net to the M-Net Movies channels, BBC Brit and ITV Choice, kykNET, Mzansi Magic, a host of SuperSport channels, CBeebies and Nickelodeon for the kids and an array of news channels*, there’s something for everyone.

Select your channel and click "Watch Live" to start streaming right away. You’ll even have access to each channel’s schedule so you can plan your viewing and read the synopsis for current and upcoming programming.

The more you know

For a more comprehensive overview of what’s coming up on which channel, select "TV Guide" from the menu on either the DStv Now app or online. You’ll be able to scan all the channels and see what’s coming up – and when – almost like the TV Guide on your decoder but now it’s in the palm of your hand.

Don’t forget your data

Remember that live streaming will use data for both the app and online. We advise that you stream on an uncapped internet connection so that you won't have to worry about running out of data during that important nail-biting scene.

If you’re viewing content online, the smart DStv Now video player automatically detects your connection speed, playing DStv content at the most appropriate quality and reducing buffering for an enhanced viewing environment. It is just as simple to control your video quality on the app. You can set your choice of video quality via the settings menu. Choose the lowest quality to reduce data costs or the highest quality to truly enjoy every little detail.

Be aware of internet usage policies – we wouldn’t want you raising a warning flag for watching The Queen.

Now that you’re clued up on how to stream your favourite channels, what are you waiting for? Jump into the drama of Isibaya on Mzansi Magic or be the fifth coach on The Voice South Africa on M-Net.
