Supercool series

Our favourite cop partnership is back on the beat as Hudson and doggie partner Rex take on new cases and Rex becomes a murder suspect! It’s the NCIS season finale and Gibbs finally has that boat out of his basement. And 2 new telenovelas launch on StarLife (DStv channel 167): thriller Mariam Khan: Reporting Live, and romantic fantasy A Magic Love Story.


Hudson & Rex S3

Detective Charlie Hudson (John Reardon) and his faithful partner, a German Shepherd named Rex, are back solving crimes in the Canadian province of Newfoundland. In the first episode, Charlie will reveal how he and Rex came together in their first case – a kidnapping. Going forward in the season, they’ll be held hostage by an escaped killer. Rex will be put on trial after his DNA is found at the scene of a police informant’s murder, and there’s even a murder at a posh dog show.

NCIS S16 Finale

The season finale sees FBI agent turned private investigator Tobias Fornell ask Gibbs for a favour: to help him to take down local drug dealers after his daughter is hospitalised from a drug overdose. Gibbs struggles with his feelings about vigilante justice, and there are plenty of twists in store before the shock ending. 1 of the team members will be on the hook over leaking a classified NSA file. And if you’ve been following Gibbs’ basement boat building efforts, this is the episode when it finally hits the water!

Wonderwoman actress Gal Gadot hosts an online documentary series that celebrates the powerful stories of 6 young women who’re making an extraordinary impact on their communities. Facing gang violence, water contamination, environmental degradation, discrimination and homelessness; these women dare to stand out and lead, often creating the safe spaces for women and girls that are the first stepping stone to escaping cycles of poverty and abuse. This documentary special introduces the online short films (available on National Geographic’s official YouTube channel here) on these community heroines.

Bob Ballard: An Explorer's Life

To ocean-based documentary lovers, the name Bob Ballard is synonymous with maritime archaeology. Bob is 1 of the world’s most famous deep-sea explorers. He was the first person to pinpoint the precise location of the Titanic and to bring back haunting photographs of the wreck. Throughout his career he has conducted more than 120 deep-sea expeditions using pioneering exploration technology and deep-diving submarines. In this special episode, Bob takes us behind the scenes of some of his most thrilling dives and discoveries, while sharing personal details about his life at the time.

Feast for the eyes

In this beautifully filmed series that’s been a feast for the eyes, South Africa’s first Michelin-star chef, Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, returns with new breath-taking culinary creations and locations. And there’s a baby on the way! This season follows Jan’s efforts to establish Klein Jan (his grandmother’s nickname for him), his new restaurant, which can be found underground on the private game reserve, Tswalu Kalahari. Klein Jan had its soft launch in March 2021 and opened to the public this May.

Koskuns Met Lientjie En Wilhelmina S1

Quirky chefs and BFFs Lientjie Wessels (artist, writer and restauranteur-owner of Queen’s Cottage in Cullinan) and Wilhelmina Thirion Garção (Winner of Kokkedoor S3 in 2019) draw inspiration from everything that’s beautiful in life. In each episode of this foodie series, the duo visit a destination that’ll inspire them to whip up 2 creative dishes. They’ll start off in Johannesdal cooking with sage, and we’ll see them cook with roses at Langkloof Roses, insects at the PJ Oliver Art Centre, malva at Pineapple House Boutique Hotel, and more.

12 July: Tom & Jerry: Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. The classic Roald Dahl tale gets a modern twist when Tom and Jerry enter the amazing world of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory along with the 5 lucky golden ticket winners.

13 July: Tom & Jerry: Robin Hood And His Merry Mouse. Robin Hood, a merry man who steals from the rich to give to the poor, has a new capable sidekick, Jerry. The evil king deduces (brilliantly, according to him) that the best way to deal with this new threat is a cat, so he hires Tom.

14 July: Tim & Jerry: The Fast And The Furry. After wrecking their home during a chase, Tom and Jerry enter a race around the world in which the winner gets a new fancy house

15 July: Tom & Jerry: The Magic Ring. Tom’s young wizard master leaves him in charge of a priceless magical ring. But Tom is in for a shock when the ring gets stuck on Jerry's head, and Jerry runs off into the city.

16 July: Tom & Jerry And The Wizard Of Oz. Tom the Cat and Jerry the Mouse get whisked away by a tornado and land up in the magical land of Oz, where they follow Dorothy and Toto to join them on their adventures.
