I’m a City Girl With a Farm Heart

Meet the charismatic host of Boer Soek ‘n Vrou. Singer-turned-presenter Leah tells us why farms appeal to her.

She first made her name as the singer of Wonderwerk and Met Jou Klere Aan. Now viewers are loving her as the host of Boer Soek ‘n Vrou. As her second season of hosting hots up, we asked Leah all about her role.

What is your favourite part of presenting Boer Soek ‘n Vrou?

I love meeting the farmers and spending time with them on their farms. They are all so passionate about farming and it’s such a pleasure to see how proud they are of what they do! I have immense respect for them. And of course if they find love, it’s the cherry on top.

Is there a part of this role you find challenging?

The challenging part is time away from my own home for long periods, but it’s what I chose and I deal with it. I don’t let it get me down.

This is your second season as presenter – is it easier or harder than you imagined when you originally signed on?

I felt a bit more comfortable the second year, as I knew what to expect and the format of the schedule. But originally I didn’t really know what I was in for and just took it as a new challenge – I threw myself into it!

What moment stands out from this season, something special you can share with us?

Ha ... if I tell you ... Let’s just say the season as a whole is very special.

What is your idea of a romantic date?

As long as it is just my husband and I, great food and some wine, I am happy. Any quality time with him is romantic even though we aren’t the most romantic people ...

If you were single, would you consider taking part in a dating show like this?

I think I would! It’s another opportunity for people to connect and interact and I think that’s wonderful.

Are you comfortable living on a farm or do you prefer the city?

I am a city girl with a farm heart ... I would absolutely live on a farm! Maybe not one too far away and remote though ...

Do you have any advice for contestants who have considered to enter the show, what have you learnt from the last season?

Don’t enter for the wrong reasons and always be yourself. The truth prevails.

You’ve acted in a recent kykNET film Susters – any plans for more television shows or even movies?

I would LOVE to do more TV and movies, so let’s just put it out in the universe ;)

Watch Boer Soek ‘n Vrou on Thursdays on kykNET (144) at 20:00.
