Now DStv is launching a high-energy, high-intensity new movie channel on Thursday, 1 October. KIX (DStv 114) will bring viewers on the Premium, Compact Plus & Compact packages heart-racing martial arts action from the East and Hollywood, all presented in English (either through dubbing or subtitles).
It’s everything from first-run movies, to classics going all the way back to the 1960s. In fact, KIX has access to the Shaw Brothers Film Library, an archive of over 760 Chinese movies produced by the Shaw Brothers Studio, dating back to 1950, through to the 1990s. It’s the birthplace of stars like Jet Li, Chow Yun-fat, Stephen Chow, Gordon Liu, Cheng Pei-pei, Maggie Cheung and Andy Lau, as well as directors and fight choreographers like John Woo, Yuen Woo Ping (Snake In The Eagle’s Shadow and Drunken Master) and Tony Ching Siu-tung (action choreographer for Shaolin Soccer, House Of Flying Daggers, and Hero).
