Nicolas Cage-led action thriller tops this week’s movie picks

Get ready for a Sunday night thriller starring Nicolas Cage, while Martin Lawrence and Will Smith keep the action going in the latest installment of the popular Bad Boys franchise.

This week’s Sunday night blockbuster is more than you’d expect with action-man Nicolas Cage as expert hunter and collector Frank Walsh in Primal on M-Net (DStv channel 101). After bagging a priceless white jaguar, Walsh expects a big payday but on the cargo ship heading to the States, he’s faced with his most dangerous prey yet: an assassin facing extradition.

Fast-paced actions features on M-Net Movies 2 (DStv channel 106) as well with Bad Boys For Life, which sees the return of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, respectively. Also on M-Net Movies 2, Imogen Poots (Need For Speed) and Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland) star as a couple looking for their first home. Things take an unexpected turn when they are trapped inside a real estate development while looking at houses.

KIX (DStv channel 114) brings drama to the fore with Ma Ma, in which a woman working for the biggest drug gang decides to leave to raise her child. Will her boss let her go?

Primal (Action Thriller)

Nicolas Cage (Ghost Rider) plays Frank Walsh, an expert hunter and collector who – after bagging a priceless white jaguar for a zoo – expects a big payday. He sets off with the jaguar on a ship heading to America but unbeknownst to him, a dangerous assassin facing extradition is also on board. When the prisoner escapes, Walsh must use his expert hunting skills to capture a dangerous criminal – dead or alive – aboard the cargo ship.

Bad Boys For Life (Action Comedy)

If you’re a fan of the Bad Boys franchise, you won't want to miss this. Will Smith (The Pursuit of Happyness) and Martin Lawrence (Big Momma’s House) reprise their starring roles as Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, respectively. This time around, they join forces with the Miami Police Department's special team AMMO to take down a ruthless mother-and-son pair of drug lords wreaking havoc on Miami. Look out for appearances by Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games) and Charles Melton (Riverdale).

Vivarium (Mystery/Thriller)

Imogen Poots (Need For Speed) and Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland) star as a young couple who are excited about acquiring their first home. Together, they visit a real estate agent who insists on showing them a house. After looking through the house and backyard, they see the agent has left but when they try to leave the labyrinth-like development, each road mysteriously takes them back to where they started. Will they be able to leave or are they trapped forever?
