The clash at the Stadio Olimpico between Roma and Milan next Sunday night could be key in deciding Italy’s fourth representative in the UEFA Champions League next season. The Rossoneri currently occupy fourth place, but the team from the ‘Eternal City’ are just one point behind.

Milan defeated Roma 2-1 at the San Siro in the teams’ last meeting back in August 2018 and will be hoping for a repeat to take a secure grip on that fourth spot.

Sampdoria are also very much in the race for fourth, being just one point behind Roma. Yet the possibility of a landmark achievement for striker Quagliarella will be the centre of attention when they head to Napoli on Saturday evening.

The veteran striker, who will have celebrated his 36th birthday by the time of the match, is looking to score for a 12th consecutive Serie A game and move ahead of the mark he currently shares with the legendary Gabriel Batistuta.

Juventus will certainly be cheering Quagliarella on, hoping he can further dent Napoli’s title hopes. Juve currently enjoy an 11-point advantage over the Neapolitans at the top of the table and it’s hard to see them dropping points at home to Parma – even if the visitors will be able to call on the maverick skills of Ivorian Gervinho. The Bianconeri, though, will hope they come into the game unscathed from a tough-looking Italian Cup match away to Atalanta in midweek.

Other key matches to look out for include Internazionale at home to Bologna, with the Nerazzurri looking to bounce back from their surprise loss at Torino last weekend, while Frosinone could climb out of the relegation zone if they defeat Lazio at home next Monday night.

Sassuolo reacted well to the loss of Kevin-Prince Boateng (who went to Barcelona on loan earlier this month) by thumping Cagliari 3-0 in their last match, and they will hope to carry that form into a match at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris against hosts Genoa.
