A Perfect Planet, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, is one of those nature documentaries that rivals even our top soaps for drama and Oscar-winning films for cinematography. This exploration of the systems that drive life on Earth and the animals that adapt to them is exclusive to DStv Premium viewers and just so, so beautiful it’ll make you love having eyeballs. And there are other familiar faces showing us our planet in fascinating ways, too, since we still can’t scratch that travel bug. See what’s coming from Ben Fogle and Griff Rhys Jones…
Sir David Attenborough presents this 5-episode series about the forces and planetary systems that drive life on Earth including volcanos, the sun, the oceans, the weather and humankind – each of which is covered in its own episode. The research is extensive, the camera footage is quite simply incredible. And the storytelling focuses on how animals survive harsh environments across the planet, from volcanic islands, to alkali lakes, deserts and snowfields. It’s an entertaining, top-notch piece of education that’ll have the whole family wide-eyed in wonder.

Highlights include a visit to the partly underground opal mining town of Coober Pedy, and Griff getting desert survival tips from an Aboriginal elder.

A brand-new reboot of the Walker Texas Ranger series starring Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki, 2 Shonda Rhimes’ shows with crossover episodes, 2 FBI series, a Brit crime thriller, a new Jerry Bruckheimer crime show – however you like to get your TV-watching workout, these shows are going to get your heart rate up. And we’re starting to see how all the different shows have worked COVID-19 into their storylines, which is fascinating because every one is a little different.
This brand-new series is a reboot of the Chuck Norris action series Walker, Texas Ranger, with Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki in the lead role as grief-stricken widowed Texas Ranger Cordell Walker. Look out for Jared’s real-life wife, Genevieve, as Cordell’s murdered wife, Emily, who’s a ghostly presence as Cordell becomes obsessed with working out how and why she really died. Cordell isn’t a “spinning kick to the face first, first ask questions later” kind of guy this time round, but he still has his own moral compass.

Grey’s is launching with double-bill episodes, and the big news this season is the return of TR Knight as George O’Malley and Patrick Dempsey as Meredith’s love, Derek Shepherd. Their “back from the dead” adventures start in episode 2, when Meredith contracts COVID-19, faints and sees Derek on a beach. Fresh from US, FBI’s 3rd season is bringing Maggie back from her undercover work, but she and OA aren’t necessarily going to click back into place as easily as they would have assumed, thanks to Maggie’s romance on the side with her undercover agent lover. Series showrunner David Hudgins has indicated that the pandemic will be coming into FBI’s: Most Wanted storylines in intriguing ways – as it would in a world where so many people are wearing masks. And we’ll meet Jess LaCroix’s dad, played by Lost’s Terry O’Quinn, along with a troublesome bounty hunter named Jackie, played by Amy Carlson.

We love a tasty British crime thriller! In this 4-episode series set in Scotland, grieving mom Anna (Kelly Macdonald) is on trial for inciting violence she posts online that a local bus driver is really the man who murdered her child, now living under an assumed identity. The bus driver’s lawyer has his own axe to grind, having been falsely accused of a crime himself. The series digs into what happens when people have had their trial but feel that justice has not been done.
