“There is no such thing as death,” proclaims celebrity psychic medium Kim Russo, presenter of Celebrity Ghost Stories. “It’s only a transition from one world to the spiritual world. That world is a mirror image of our world, with mountains and rivers and buildings, just like in the physical world, but they are just vibrating at a different energy. All your loved ones are there, and you will meet them when you transition.”

In S6 of her series, Kim meets 6 celebrities – rapper Ice-T and his wife Coco, football legend Terry Bradshaw, music icon and former American Idol judge Paula Abdul, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes, TV personality Kelly Osbourne, and actor Taye Diggs – who have all had personal paranormal experiences in their lives, or are still having those experiences. And now they want answers.

“I go with them to the location where it happened and I tune into the energy, and picking up the spiritual vibes, I can put together a little movie in my head on what has happened, or is happening. What I did find interesting with the six episodes is that each of them brought with them a deceased loved one who gives advice or tells them they are okay,” says Kim.

Sceptic to spiritualist

Kim is a New York girl, and says she was always sceptical when people told her they are experiencing paranormal activities. “However, things changed when I was about five years old. When I went to bed at night, there were all these ghosts standing at the foot of the bed. I was terrified and didn’t know what to do or who to talk to, as nobody wanted to believe me. This was an ongoing event until I was about 13 years old. It just suddenly stopped. I wasn’t visited by ghosts or any spiritual beings again. I thought I was rid of them.” Fast forward about 29 years later, and after the birth of her third son, Anthony Jr, the spiritual world came knocking at her door once again.

“It was like someone turned on a water faucet, and the spirit world came to me as if to say, ‘Okay, you had to have your children and that’s what you signed up for, but now you also signed on to be one of our voices.’” She explains the feeling as a blend of loud radio frequency in her mind and vibes she picks up. At first, Kim struggled as the voices and noises were too loud. “I had to sit and concentrate really hard sifting through the noises. I also read up about mediums, and then for a year I did readings for free, just to master it. But after the first year, I started to charge people for my services because I needed an income,” she laughs.

A ghostly trio

Of the six celebs in S6, there were three who stood out. “Ice-T and his lovely wife, Coco, are sceptics. They don’t believe in the spiritual world, so it was up to me to convince them it does exist. I told him I’m only the vessel, and that the spirits work through me. I can gladly say that he is now more a believer than a sceptic after a visit to a New York theatre where he experienced something.”

Kim’s meeting with Paula Abdul was a rollercoaster ride. “It was an emotionally charged episode. We visited her former house, which she lived in for 10 years. in those years, some unexplained events took place. She saw images of a man and his son, and she was plagued by menacing spirits. We walked through the house, and I could feel the bad energy rushing through me as we tried to get closure. Sometimes it had Paula in tears because some things she never told people about and she hoped she forgot about, were now communicated to me. We both left there stronger women.”

Kim’s funniest episode was with the Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes. “We filmed the episodes on her farm. She never heard of us, and thought this was all a big prank. A friend of mine told me that NeNe had an experience, and I contacted her and made an appointment to meet her on the farm. But as soon as I made contact with the spirits that wanted to communicate with her, things changed. “Her facial expression, the gasps and complete and utter shock had us in stitches.”

Rock ’n Roll!

Kim generally doesn’t channel or talk to dead celebrities, “That’s not for me. It’s for them to decide who they want to speak to and through who,” she says. But a couple of years back, Kim had a strange experience with Elvis Presley. “I was in Las Vegas and met up in a casino with Elvis’s best friend, music legend Wayne Newton. He claimed to have seen Elvis on stage. We were in the dressing room, and I suddenly felt this strange vibration talking to me, and it turned out to be Elvis! He revealed a conversation he had with Wayne just before his death, and that’s when I knew this was legit, as nobody else knew about the conversation.”

Beware, boo

Becoming a medium is not for just anyone, warns Kim. “If you think you are hearing voices or picking up strange energies, monitor it carefully. Don’t get involved if you don’t know what’s going on. There are a lot of trickster spirits out there. Stay in control of your mind. You need to know you are safe. You need to check the energy to see if it’s dark.”
