On Wednesday 26 February award-winning screenwriter, director and producer Ryan Murphy posted a cryptic video on Instagram revealing the cast for the next highly anticipated instalment of his award-winning horror anthology series, American Horror Story. What really has fans in a frenzy is the addition of newcomer Macaulay Culkin. The reclusive actor is, of course, mostly known for his role in the Home Alone franchise, and his most recent (regular) acting gig was on the series Kings.

Notable inclusions also include regulars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates. While fans rejoice at the big cast reveal, there’s still no word on the actual theme of season 10 but we can only guess that it will have all the gore and scares we’ve grown to love.

Who’s returning and who’s new

Sarah Paulson has been a central figure in every AHS season since 2011 and fans were left heartbroken when she was left out of AHS: 1984. That’s now a thing of the past as Sarah returns to our screens in season 10 to give us all the horror feels. More fan-favourite returns include Evan Peters and Kathy Bates, who we last saw in season 8, Apocalypse. Other returning cast regulars include Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, and Finn Wittrock. Sadly, Emma Roberts will not be returning for season 10.

Season 9

AHS: 1984 starts on M-Net (101) later this month and we are in for a real treat. We go back to shoulder pads, aerobics, big hair and big dreams with season 9’s take on the classic slasher film. The story follows Brooke Thompson (Emma Roberts) when she joins a group of friends as counsellors at Camp Redwood. What starts out as a fun summer, soon turns deadly when the counsellors discover that evil has no curfew.

The counsellors are also unaware of the horrible crime that was committed at the camp 14 years ago, which left behind a trail of bodies you’ll only see in your nightmares. Camp Redwood also carries sinister secrets, including the fact that if you die on its grounds, your spirit gets to roam the camp freely. Also look out for the exaggerated portrayal of Los Angeles serial killer, The Night Stalker AKA Richard Ramirez.

AHS: 1984 starts on Saturday 14 March on M-Net (101) at 22:00
