You’re invited to four weddings and a funeral – the series!

Four Weddings and a Funeral is the tale of four college friends who are thrown one curveball after another when they reunite in London.

The Wet Wet Wet song, Love is All Around, is synonymous with the iconic soundtrack of 1994’s Four Weddings and a Funeral film, so it’s perfectly fitting that the same song starts in the opening scene of the fun-filled new TV series by the same name.

“I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes…”

You don’t need to have seen the British film to enjoy or understand the brand-new dramedy, but you will definitely enjoy the story and characters even more if you’ve ever watched the movie that ranks as one of the 100 greatest British films of the 20th century.

Set in New York and London, the story revolves around four American friends who were at university together and reunite in London for a 30th birthday party – and so begins a whole new story.

Fast-forward to a year later, and the political speechwriter Maya (Nathalie Emmanuel from Game of Thrones fame), investment banker Craig (Brandon Mychal Smith), interior designer Ainsley (Rebecca Rittenhouse), and teacher Duffy (John Reynolds), all return to London for a wedding.

This humorous series is perfect for Gen X-ers and Millennials who will instantly connect with the terrific and very funny one-liners ranging from things like: “Have you seen my husband, Quinton? Sometimes when he’s been over-served he falls asleep in shrubs. Reminds him of his childhood in Kenya,” to “We stick together like the Spice Girls” and then the retort: “But they broke up!”.

Then there is the highly emotive way the various characters are portrayed, and the poignant songs used throughout the 10 episodes that make the series a gem.

In classic rom-com style, a female character falls in love with another handsome character (we won’t spoil it by saying who) – and he turns out to be the boyfriend of her best friend.

Another character has secretly been in love with one of his friends for years and tries to muster up the courage to declare his love for her. Meanwhile, someone else is falling out of love, someone’s having an affair, and someone is shocked to discover he’s the dad of a little girl he never knew existed.

Settle in for perfect Friday nights filled with unexpected twists and turns in this series in which the course of true love definitely never runs smooth.
