Strap in for a wacky and shocking 6th season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

After their crazy space adventure in a dystopian future to change the destruction of Earth in the past, the agents of the international law enforcement agency, Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage and Law-Enforcement Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.), are back.

A year after the harrowing events of the fifth season, they’re dealing with the aftermath of the death of their beloved director, Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), with Mack (Henry Simmons) who has taken over as the leader of the team. Mack however secretly wonders if he’ll ever be as good as his former boss. Luckily Coulson had recorded some holographic messages for him. Go Coulson!

As hostile-looking strangers start to emerge on Earth, stepping through appearing energy portals and led by a man called Sarge hell-bent on completing some mysterious mission, there’s not much time to wonder… Except for the fact that Sarge looks exactly like Coulson!

“Besides his cool jacket and his cool boots, it is a very different character,” said executive producer, Jed Whedon, in an interview. “When we were tossing around ideas for a potential sixth season, it was one of the main things we struck upon that made us feel like we could keep doing this in thrilling fashion,” he noted.

Jed further explains: “We felt like we needed Clark Gregg still at the centre of the show. Everything was founded on him and he’s still at the heart of the thing, so we wanted something for him. When we stumbled upon this idea, we felt like it would be thrilling for fans.”

Is there something of Coulson inside the ruthless Sarge? And what if the mission of the new arrivals is perhaps to protect Earth and not to destroy it? And while you’re thinking about that, watch out for the race of parasitic creatures called the Shrike who start to summon their leader.

The bewildered agents not only have to jump in immediately trying to figure out who and what the possible new threats are, how they’re connected and who this Sarge is, but also how they’re going to find the formerly frozen scientist, Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), who is lost in space.

Luckily Daisy (Chloe Bennet), Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), Piper (Briana Venskus) and Davis (Maximilian Osinski) are already off in the deepest reaches of outer space looking for him – and here’s a secret: Fitzey is already thawed out and working on some strange new alien planet with green eyes!

The 13-episodes of the new season is filled with robots, a bounty hunter, parasites, crystallised explosions, time-travel, someone else dying and being placed in a stasis pod and a threat so big that this time the team might need help from other realms.

Get ready for the most action-packed season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. yet!
