In 2009, the unapologetically loud and proud cast of reality sensation show Jersey Shore moved into a house where they were required to work at a clothing store to pay their rent. When the spray-tanned and reckless bunch weren’t folding shirts or sweeping the floor, they were yelling at each other for no apparent reason. Or they’d go club hopping and return home with random strangers for a one-night stand, and Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio screaming “Yeah buddy”.

A lot has changed over the past decade. But while the former roommates have outgrown their wild party ways, one thing remains the same on S3 of their revival reality show Jersey Shore: Family Vacation – they’re still a close-knit bunch, and would go to the ends of the world for each other.

You see it when they reunite for former ladies’ man Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s court hearing in episode 1 after he was investigated for tax evasion. “This is chaos. I’m teary-eyed right now,” says castmate Jenni “JWoww” Farley after they hug Mike minutes before he learns his fate – with his ride-or-die fiancée, Lauren Pesce, holding his hand. He is soon sentenced to eight months in prison, sending shockwaves within the group. But Mike keeps his head up, declaring, “I just want to put this behind me and move forward. You’ll throw me to a pack of wolves, and I shall return leading the pack.”

This isn't the last we’ll see of The Situation this season. He has plans for a big comeback following his release. And here are four more reasons to stay tuned to Jersey Shore: Family Vacation S3. There’s a strip tease, a wedding and two babies to come.

What plays in Vegas, slays in Vegas

Usually a season of Family Vacation begins with the crew packing their bags and moving in under one roof, like they did on the original reality show. With Mike behind bars and Deena Cortese in her last trimester, though, they had to reschedule their holiday plans. But when an opportunity for weekend away presents itself in episode 6, the ex-roomies are thrilled. They arrive in Las Vegas for front seats at cast-member-turned-stripper Vinny Guadagnino’s residency, which includes his slot with the all-male exotic dance troupe The Chippendales. The dancers put on an A+ show while tearing their clothes off and grinding against willing audience members. Even Vinny’s supportive mother, Paula, is in the crowd, bawling her eyes out in pride and cheering on her son. “I’ve never seen a mom so proud to see her son be a stripper,” Ronnie Ortiz-Magro quips before laughing uncontrollably.

The end of a new beginning

Jersey Shore celebrates its 10-year anniversary in a special episode titled 10 Fist Pumping Years. The cast squirm as they watch past stand-out moments that make the show special. We’ll relive all their iconic catchphrases like “cab’s here!” which Pauly would yell out before they’d go partying. Their heated confrontations and their off-beat dance-offs also get some screen time.

That viewing party could ring in the end of an era, though. Just after the episode aired in the US in March this year, fan-favourite Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi announced that she wouldn’t be returning for S4 as she’d like to focus on her marriage and raising her kids, especially with the addition of her new-born son Angelo.

Party crasher alert

In the world of Jersey Shore, a night of partying is the cure to everything: tears, heartbreak, and rage – you name it. In that spirit, the ladies throw JWoww a divorce party after her split from her husband, Roger Matthews, is finalised in episode 17. While they’re looking for a drama-free evening, in their signature Jersey leopard print dresses and fur coats, Angelina Pivarnick spoils the fun when she invites her male best friend, Michael, to their table. JWoww and Deena take offense. “This is meant to be a girl’s night out. We didn’t invite our husbands. This is so awkward. Why is this guy here?” an annoyed Deena would like to know. And sweet, sweet payback is coming…

Disaster wedding

After three engagements and kissing countless frogs, Angelina has finally found her true love and she ties the knot in episode 28. It wouldn’t be a true Jersey Shore wedding if it didn’t have a jaw-dropping moment. To bring some life to the wedding reception, bridesmaids Deena, Snooki and JWoww’s speeches are hilarious as they are embarrassing, and prove that the women are still the same girls who never play by the rules. “Angelina, you are the lice to my hair,” says Deena. “You’re the trash to our mess,” adds JWoww while the crowd mumbles uncomfortably.
