The doc with the heart of gold
Dr Cathy returns to give more people a shot at transforming their lives in season two of Outpatients on FOX Life.
You may think aesthetic medicine provides only superficial fixes, but for South African plastic surgeon Dr Cathy it’s about rebuilding confidence more than anything else. This month, she returns with more heart-warming cases.
Who is Dr Cathy Davies?
The Johannesburg-based doctor studied medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand and completed an MBA at Henley Business School. She has been called the hair guru, because she has a special interest in hair restoration. Her other passion is the children of South Africa – she never hesitates to help them through a challenging time, something you’ll witness in Outpatients.
In the medical reality series, she uses the help of other professionals, cutting-edge technology and innovative medicine to change lives. “Whether there’s something they wish to alter about their physical appearance that they feel is holding them back, or we have an opportunity to restore their bodies after experiencing life-changing trauma, the effects transcend the purely aesthetic benefits,” she says.
What to look forward to in season two of Outpatients
Popular South African actress Khanyi Mbau reaches out to Dr Cathy, and she treats a transgender patient who is eager to boost her femininity. But it’s not all about aesthetics. Dr Cathy also supports young people suffering from alopecia, or hair loss, and a triathlete whose career is at risk after a violent attack.
