What to expect on the new season of The Voice
Don’t you just love the bromance between Blake Shelton and Adam Levine? Well, it’s back on The Voice S16
For four years, singer-songwriter Jennifer Hudson has coached alongside country-music star Blake Shelton and Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine. But this year, the Grammy winner has taken her coaching skills international to join The Voice UK, leaving a vacant red chair that had to be filled by someone of her calibre. Along came John Legend. It’s safe to say he’s more than qualified for the job — his ten Grammy Awards are testament to his skill as a singer and with a Tony Award also on his list of accolades, you can rest assured that he’s got an ear for talent.
Kelly Clarkson will return as the fourth coach and a much-needed addition to this panel of testosterone. This season, the Knockout stage will be replaced by a new round called the Live Cross Battles; you’ll have to watch to see what this exciting battle is all about. And, for the first time, trios have been allowed to enter. Previously, only single contestants and duets were allowed, until the producers remembered that good things also come in threes.
And the winner is…
Hold your horses! We don’t know who the winner will be yet. But we can’t wait for this season’s race from mega-talent to insta-fame to get started. Season 15’s winner was 16-year-old Chevel Shepherd from Team Kelly. Some of our favourite moments are getting to see the pros pass on their knowledge and skills to the hopefuls, and we also love seeing who the coaches call on to serve as advisors during the Battleground stages. Past advisors have included CeeLo Green (who used to be a coach), Keith Urban (Ah…Keith Urban) and Mariah Carey.
