Hear it straight from the horse’s mouth in the latest docu-series about your favourite rap music icons, Untold Stories of Hip Hop.

It is undeniable that Friday, 13 September 1996, was a day that hip hop - one of the world’s most influential genres of music - changed forever. Not only was it the day that superstar Tupac Shakur was gunned down, but it also elevated the conversation around the nuances and depth of hip hop culture.

Tupac’s murder was never solved, nor was the killing of his arch rival Notorious B.I.G who was shot at gunpoint six months later. But for people like rapper Snoop Dogg - a close friend and labelmate of Tupac at the time of his death - there are hundreds of stories he could tell about that tumultuous period in his career.

Now, 20 years later, popular radio personality Angie Martinez is bringing those stories to life in the gripping tell-all interview series, the Untold Stories of Hip Hop. Starting Sunday 15 December on 1Magic (103) at 22:00, Untold Stories of Hip Hop sees some of the biggest and most influential names in hip hop - Snoop Dogg, Cardi B, Fat Joe, Ja Rule, DJ Khaled, Queen Latifah and more - share personal tales viewers have never heard before. Among them, Snoop talks about the infamous East Cost - West Coast rivalry and his involvement in it. Queen Latifah talks about breaking through as a female in male-dominated industry. Cardi B talks about her controversial rise to the top, and Ja Rule talks about the Murder Inc era - including the time he was “kidnapped during a tour of Africa”.
